Biography
Rion Sarker is appointed as the Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering in January 2026 in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering of the World University of Bangladesh. He is known for his primary research focus on fluid mechanics, biomechanics, tissue engineering, heat transfer, and computational flow physics and modeling. His research uses computational modeling approach to study complex flow systems in micro-environments, develop personalized medical treatments and drug delivery methods, gain additional insights from routinely measured clinical data, analyzing blood flow behavior in cardiovascular diseases, and understanding multi-scale/multi-physics phenomena involving turbulent fluid flows. A very niche research focus of Sarker is high-speed aerodynamics, shockwaves, rocket aerodynamics, and transient flow aerodynamics for future Mars helicopter missions.
In addition to his research specialization, he teaches several core lecture and laboratory courses within the Department of Mechatronics Engineering. Sarker has developed senior-year undergraduate courses in mechanical engineering design, fluid mechanics, turbomachinery, and mechanical vibration for the department. Sarker focuses on quality and standard engineering education that will benefit the students in their prolonged academic and professional careers.
He received his bachelorβs degree with distinction in mechanical engineering from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) in May 2023 and is currently pursuing MSc. in mechanical engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) since September 2024. His postgraduate courseworks include mechanics of viscous and inviscid fluids, advanced aerodynamics, statistical thermodynamics and quantum mechanics, finite element methods, and energy engineering.
