Biography
Mr. Md. Bayazid Ahmed is a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering in the Mechatronics Engineering department at the World University of Bangladesh, with a strong academic and research background in mechanical engineering, renewable energy, and materials science. He earned his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Agder (UiA), Norway, and Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Bangladesh. He also completed his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from CUET, Bangladesh.
His masterβs thesis, conducted at UiAβs Thermal Energy Laboratory, focused on the conceptual design of a coupled hydrodynamic cavitation and hydrothermal separation process for extracting biopolymers and extractives from lignocellulosic biomass. His undergraduate thesis involved the design and fabrication of an oleophilic drum skimmer for oil spill remediation. Mr. Ahmed has published several peer-reviewed journal articles and conference articles. His technical expertise includes computational simulation (Aspen Plus, Ansys Fluent, SolidWorks, MATLAB), materials characterization and additive manufacturing (CSWA-AM certified). He is also a Certified SolidWorks Professional β Mechanical Design (CSWP-MD).
Beyond academia, he has served as Vice-President of the CUET CAD Society, trained over 50 students in CAD design, and organized multiple webinars and competitions. He has received a Norwegian government scholarship and secured 2nd place in the ASME E-Fest Digital 2021 design challenge. His research interests include additive manufacturing, solid mechanics, thermochemical conversion, surface coating, composite materials, and alternative fuels.
